I play a lot of Dress To Impress, and have multiple private servers, and use them frequently for currency farming.
When money spawns, it can either be “pink” currency or “gold” currency, but since the Easter Update, there has definitely been a change in how much currency that is spawning, and also a reduction in “gold” currency.
I actually started writing this post before the new Petal Update launched, and the situation has got SO much worse.
Keep on reading to find out more…

Before the Easter Update (April 19th) launched, there were a total of 41 places around the map (both in VIP and in non-VIP) that money would spawn.
The Dress To Impress currency spawns either “pink” currency or “gold” currency,
The “pink” currency is the more common cash to spawn, and each piece of pink cash is valued at between $1 and $3 per piece of cash. While the “gold” currency is the rarer cash to spawn, and each piece of gold cash is valued at between $15 and $25.
Now, since the Halloween update that launched in October, there is a gamepass called “2 x Money”, and when you purchase that for $399 Robux, it doubles the value of every single piece of cash, so pink cash will now be worth $2 and $6, and gold cash will now be worth $30 and $50.
The DTI cash spawns on the floor, and once you pick it up, it takes one whole minute to respawn, but you can also earn cash by playing the game, and every single game you play within the main Dress To Impress will earn you between $0 and $65, depending on where you place.

As I mentioned above, before the Easter update, there were 41 places around the map that the money spawned.
The money spawned in exactly the same places around the map, and you could find money spawning inside Lana’s salon, near the non-VIP dressing rooms, around the non-VIP map, but also inside VIP too.
I know all of these facts because I made a video of the currency before the Easter update, after the Easter update but BEFORE the Petal update, and now AFTER the Petal update.
Before the Easter update dropped, here is the ratio of how many money spawn areas there were:
- 28 money spawn locations in NON-VIP
- 13 money spawn locations in VIP
After the Easter update dropped but BEFORE the Petal update dropped, here is the ratio of how many money spawn areas there were:
- 20 money spawn locations in NON-VIP
- 12 money spawn locations in VIP
That means we used to have 41 locations we could find currency around the map (before the Easter update), and since the Easter update, we now only have 32 locations we can find currency, with a decrease in 9 money spawn locations.

The Dress To Impress Currency Issues After The Petal Update
The above is what I wrote before the Petal Update launched, and the situation has got so, so much worse since the Petal update launched yesterday (26th of April).
Since the Petal Update launched in Dress To Impress yesterday, the money spawn locations has decreased massively, shockingly so, and now there are only 10 locations we can find currency.
To put that into perspective, here is how the money spawning has declined within the last three weeks:
- Pre-Easter Update: 42 money spawn locations
- After Easter Update but BEFORE the Petal Update: 31 money spawn locations
- After Petal Update: 10 money spawn locations
I cannot actually believe the stats. To lose 32 money spawn locations in 8 days is insane, and many, many players (including myself) are very disappointed in this move by the game.
Now, the location ratio of cash in non-VIP and VIP is as follows:
- 6 money spawn locations in NON-VIP
- 4 money spawn locations in VIP
Non-VIP players have lost 22 money spawn locations, and VIP players (that have paid real life money to have access to VIP and the VIP money spawn locations) have lost 9 money spawn locations.

Not only has the number of in-game currency spawn locations decreased, the DTI team has changed how the money spawns.
Until now, since the game started, the money spawn locations were always the same.
Sure, they changed up the spawn locations with each major map update, but the locations were always the same place, which made it easier to pick up currency, as you know where to look.
Since the Petal Update launched, the measly ten money spawn locations are now randomized around the map.
You still only get six money spawn locations in non-VIP and four money spawn locations in VIP, but the placements of the cash changes up every time it spawns.
Money used to spawn every 60 seconds, but now it is every 66 seconds (I recorded and used a stopwatch).

Why Is LESS Money Spawning In Dress To Impress?
To make this post as balanced as possible, I want to start by saying that the reason Dress To Impress has removed 31 money spawn locations before the Petal Update, was possibly to improve the “quality of life” within the game.
This is somewhat of a buzzword for the DTI team, and they are genuinely coming up with ways in which to improve the game to make it less laggy and buggy for players, which is to be commended, as it’s to make gameplay a more enjoyable experience.
They introduced the hide-player feature, which definitely improved lag for me on my devices, and it could be that the currency placements, and the amount of them, affected how much lag there was within the game.
However, the removal of 31 currency locations has coincided with the Petal Update where they relaunched their shop, and introduced new currency items, poses and walks.
With the Petal Update, we got a massive amount of new currency items, which is fantastic, and the total cost of every single NEW currency item is $64,100.
So, they removed 31 places we can find currency, and then launched $64,100 of new products.

Many people on Reddit are suggesting that this was a money-making move, especially as on the same day as the $64,100 of new items was launched, they introduced a massive currency pack of $40,500 in-game currency for 4500 Robux, which is over $50 of real life money.
As a player that has played for a year, I am shocked at the removal of 31 currency locations, and I am really disappointed.
If you own a private server, and you collect every piece of the 10 currency pieces every 66 seconds, it would take literally years to be able to afford the $64,100 of new currency items.
I genuinely believe this massive change will affect how many people want to play the game, as not everyone wants to spend IRL cash on in-game currency.
Yes, you don’t *have* to have the currency items, but removing practically all the money spawn locations the day you introduce $64,100 of in-game currency items is a shock, and it is a shame.
If it was done to improve lag within the game, I really hope it makes a massive, massive, massive improvement, because otherwise it’s not fair, especially to those that paid $8/£8 for VIP to get access to the more money spawn locations, and now we have just four to share amongst 13 players in a round. Crazy.
UPDATE
StudioZac just made an announcement in the Discord server, with the following, in response to MANY, many, many JUSTIFIED complaints about the shocking removal of 32 money spawn locations:
“Thank you so much for all of the feedback you shared regarding the current issues with currency spawning. We did make a few tweaks to try to better the economy, as a result of the negative economy the game has had for a while (people having way too much cash and nothing to spend it on, plus high-yield farming methods causing it to inflate). However, upon investigation thanks to your reports, it turns out we actually did tweak it too much by accident, which caused it to break. It genuinely wasnot supposed to be this low and unobtainable. This is now being corrected and will show in new servers. We will continue to monitor bug reports you send in to see if any further issues come up!“
I am glad they are listening to feedback. I am glad that they are changing the spawn locations, but this still does not sit right with me whatsoever, and it’s clear it was a money making move, and was not about improving the game experience for players – which should be at the forefront of their mind when making decisions like this.
Me having $300,000 of in-game currency (collected over one year of daily playing) does not affect the “economy” within Dress To Impress.
Money Spawn Locations Count (post announcement)
I have used my private server to count the money spawn locations now, after this update, and this is what I found:
Now, the location ratio of cash in non-VIP and VIP is as follows:
- 29 money spawn locations in NON-VIP (it was 6 before this “announcement”)
- 13 money spawn locations in VIP
The time it takes to respawn is now:
1 minute and 44 seconds – when earlier today it was 1 minute and 6 seconds, so make of what you will.
Would love to hear your comments below…
