Dress To Impress launched a surprise April Fool’s update on April 1st, and the update was just for 24 hours.
We got one new code, one code we had to do a massive time-intensive hunt for, and some fun changes within the game. Keep on reading to find out more…
For the update, the team changed every single photo within the dressing room to be photos of Lina.
It really was funny, and even the icon for the Dress To Impress game was changed to be a photo of Lina with massive duck lips.
Not only were the images changed for the whole dressing room, Lana (the nail lady) was replaced by Lina, and on Lana’s desk there was a name plate with Lina’s name, and Lana’s name plate had a red cross through Lina’s name.
The April Fool’s Update is officially over, so we all thought that the changes with Lina would be reverted, but the Lina images have stayed in the dressing room, and Lana has not returned to her nail salon desk.
Lana is now officially missing, so I do wonder if that means we’re going to be getting a new quest for the petal update (launching April 26th) or a new big installment in the Lana lore, because why has Lana not returned, and why have the images not changed back? It’s intriguing.
In addition to the change to Lana/Lina, and the photos on the walls, we had two code items which were available for 24 hours only.
One of the codes was BADDIE4LIFE, and was advertised as being “Butterfly Heels”.
However, when you equip the “butterfly heels”, you end up having “chicken feet” with three toggles; feet, hands or both, so you can have chicken hands, chicken feet or chicken hands or feet.
The chicken feet are truly gross, and there are no toggles for our butterfly heels, even though the item has a butterfly heels picture in the dressing room.
We did think that we would get the butterfly heels once the 24-hour update was over, but we didn’t.
So, we have no butterfly heels, but we have chicken hands and feet forever, as they’re permanent, but hopefully we’ll get the butterfly heels in the petal update, because they are the prettiest shoes DTI has ever created, so it’s gutting we haven’t got them.
As well as the code BADDIE4LIFE, we had a scavenger hunt where we all had to hunt for 5 different emojis, which were hidden around the dressing room and the intermission area between games.
Every player had a different 5 emojis to find, and there were 15 places the emojis could be (you can see the 15 locations here).
Once you found your five emojis, you had to convert the emojis into numbers, and redeem it, and the code item was a flamethrower.
Where Did The Flamethrower Go In Dress To Impress?
When the DTI April Fool’s Update was announced with the “butterfly heels” and “flamethrower,” Zac said we would get the flamethrower as a “gear” in-game for the first 24 hours, but once the update was over, we get to keep it forever, but we wouldn’t be able to use the fire function anymore.
We were told multiple times that from April 2nd, we’d keep the flamethrower, and while we can’t set things on fire anymore, it would become a pop and be “something the players can hold and toggle”.
Well, I’m really sorry to break it to you guys, that’s not the case. They changed their mind, and we do not keep the flamethrower.
I am absolutely gutted, and I’m sure thousands of you are, as we all spent hours hunting for emojis because we were told we would keep the flamethrower, but we didn’t.
I do need to tell you that, while I am gutted the flamethrower has now been taken away, I do understand why, and want to explain why.
Dress To Impress has a massive fan base of all ages from literal children to adults.
Roblox is very strict about what is featured on their platform from the UGC clothing to games and content within those games.
The items within Dress To Impress (and every Roblox game) has to be suitable for audiences of all ages, and the DTI team don’t want to encourage non-PG content/behavior in game.
I would like to give you an example of a horrific way the flamethrower was used by another player (this tweet here) – this is what happens when DTI try to give us fun things – just look what happened with the hot dog costume which had to removed and replaced without full colors.
I would also like to post a tweet by Zac, when someone complained that the flamethrower was being removed:
“I totally get that, but it was just supposed to be a fun and reckless update 🙁 please don’t make us feel bad for trying to have fun! we have a huge spring update at the end of the month, and we just wanted to do something fun and messy for April fools”
I’m not going to lie, I am gutted the flamethrower was removed, but I do understand why it was.
My issue is why were we told before the update it was permanent, as that’s why we all spent so much time hunting those pesky emojis.
As I was writing this post, Zac actually tweeted to say the Butterfly Heels would be coming to the game now, so that’s a sweetener.

Please don’t direct hate at anyone at Dress To Impress over the now removal of the flamethrower, because this kinda behavior would stop them ever doing fun updates like this again, but it’s OK to be disappointed.

I know, where is she? I think we could get a new quest or lore installment with the petal update on the 26th. It’s weird how Lina didn’t disappear when the update did!!!
I was surprised to read that they planned to leave this as a prop at first. I do think there are quite a few “non family friendly” items in game so to say. The Sabrina Carpenter bodysuit, several stockings, maybe even the knife; I don’t think it’s the right items to have in a kids game. Of course as an adult I sometimes use these items to make outfits but if I was say 13, went in a kids game and saw this stuff… I don’t think it would be appropriate. I don’t know.
One time I was watching a video on youtube about dti and the creator mentioned that sometimes people make inappropriate outfits for a theme. In her example she said one time a person dressed up as an adult entertainment worker for a theme “future career” (they also wrote it in the chat to clarify who they dressed up as). If I saw something like this, I probably would brush it off, but when you think there might be kids in the server, it’s not right.
I understand people who want to have more items in game, but we have to remember this games has kids as an audience.

I think they are testing how risqué they can be lately, like that Sabrina dress is essentially lingerie. Especially with the fishnets. I find it crazy that IT Girl has a literal revolver prop but DTI is infinitely more popular so I guess that has a lot to do with it. As an adult I definitely think it’s awkward sometimes like some of the poses like Cocoa from the winter poses and desperado from the valentines poses 😳
A lot of children play the game, like under 10, maybe even more children than adults. Then you get the inappropriate adults lowering the tone. It must be so hard to own a game and make these kinds of decisions to try and keep everyone happy!

Also many people are just rude for no reason. Like I had a girl accuse me of copying her look in style showdown, at first I tried to explain that there are very few items in this mode, plus the theme was renaissance, so items are more limited. Then I gave up because I am not even sure if she is really delusional or just trolling🤣
Also I often log into your server first before going in other modes because I have poor internet connection (I can let the game load in private server, then go where I want). And today there was a girl who said I need to leave (she was farming currency). I was just waiting for game to load, I didn’t even move😂
I don’t really care because it says more about them than it does about me, but these people don’t know if they are talking to children or no. If there was a kid in my place it could have hurt their feelings.
So I guess there is just a human factor and no matter what DTI team does, there are going to be people who will behave poorly(

You won’t be able to use use the flamethrower at all even without the flames. The team changed their mind sadly and it is been completely removed!

I feel so bad for my friend she had to find all 5 emojis for her code and they were in the hardest places and we spent ages looking together and she got it just before they expired so she couldnt even use it bc we thought it was permanent
